About Us

The journey started back in June 2015 when Basically Fitness launched with just two classes – Fitmix and Zumba. Over the years, more fitness classes were added, and we expanded to form our amazing dance teams. Our teams have been involved in a variety of activities, including show performances, competitions, dance camps, a TV appearance, and fundraising events to support our community. Alongside the dance school, Lianne Bruce has been running the Cliviger Community Outreach Programme Engagement, which has proven to be very popular. Lianne had a dream to help the community further by creating a safe and welcoming hub for everyone, a safe and inclusive space for all.

In January 2024, Lianne, along with fellow directors Sarah and Amy, established Basically Cheer CIC, with the vision of spreading happiness and uniting communities. Finding the perfect venue was key—somewhere big enough to become a hub and also accommodate the Dance School. This is when we found a former church on Cog Lane in Burnley. After two months of hard work transforming the old church into the vibrant space we have today, we officially opened in September 2024.

We are extremely proud to offer over 40 different classes and sessions across both the CIC and Dance School, led by Lianne and an incredible team of coaches, junior coaches, leaders, instructors, support team, and volunteers.

The hub itself is currently run by a dedicated team of volunteers and session leads who work tirelessly to create a welcoming space for all ages and abilities. We offer the following community-led sessions:

• Book Clubs

• SEN Fitness Classes

• Adult Arts & Crafts

Due to the size of our hub, we are able to offer room hire in our main hall, which is perfect for birthdays, events, meetings, and training days.

We are hoping to grow our organisation further with new classes and improvements to our hub to make the experience even more enjoyable for all our visitors.
