Our Story

Our journey began with Basically Fitness, starting with just two classes — Fitmix and Zumba.

From those small beginnings, something special started to grow.

What began as a couple of fitness sessions quickly blossomed into a vibrant, supportive community. Over time, we’ve expanded into a wide range of classes and created exciting dance teams who have shared their passion through shows, competitions, dance camps, TV appearances, and fundraising events — all helping to bring people together and support our local community.

How Basically Cheer Began

Lianne Bruce’s passion for community work led her to run the Cliviger Community Outreach Programme Engagement, creating a warm and welcoming space where people could connect and feel supported.

Inspired by the impact of this work, Lianne, alongside fellow directors Sarah and Amy, founded Basically Cheer CIC in January 2024, with one simple goal: To spread happiness and bring people together.

Their search for the perfect home led them to a beautiful old church on Cog Lane in Burnley. After two months of hard work and dedication, that space was transformed into the colourful, welcoming hub we proudly opened in September 2024.

What We Do Today

Today, Basically Cheer is a thriving community hub offering classes and sessions for people of all ages and abilities. The hub is also home to the Basically Dance & Fitness and Basically Bambinos.

Our amazing team of coaches, junior coaches, leaders, instructors, support staff, and volunteers are all passionate about helping people:

Our Space

Our hub is designed to be a place where people can come together, have fun, and feel at home.

Our spacious main hall is also available for hire — perfect for birthdays, events, meetings, and training days — helping us bring even more people in the community together.
